Industrial Exoskeletons
Industrial Exoskeletons | Exoskeleton of Human Body
The applications for exoskeleton products for an industrial setup are unprecedentedly huge. As a matter of fact, the industrial exoskeleton market is the second largest exoskeleton product market after the medical healthcare market. There are a number of exoskeleton devices which are already being implemented in various organisational and industrial setups across the globe and continuous research and development is going on for the upgradation of these devices as well. Some of the, already commercialised, devices are :-
Arm Support | Exoskeleton Arm Support System
- Airframe – Airframe is a passive shoulder support exoskeleton developed by Levitate Technologies for work and industrial purposes. It is designed to provide relief to the joints and muscles of the workers who perform repetitive tasks above or above chest level. This particular device uses a mechanical support system with variable assistance relative to the user’s arm angle. (Levitate Technologies Inc., n.d.)
- BESK – BESK is designed by Cyber Human Systems, a spin-off of GOGOA Mobility Robots. It comes in two variants BESK G and BESK B, to support overhead working activities, and horizontal and over-table displacements respectively. Both these variants provide support and assistance to the user’s arms while performing heavy-duty and repetitive tasks at an elevated or horizontal position.
- Back Support Exoskeleton
- ALDAK – ALDAK is a hip-support exoskeleton for back support. It comes in two variants, ALDAK-Passive (Non-Motorised) and ALDAK-Active (Motorised). The passive exoskeleton provides support to the hip joints and back to workers while performing tasks requiring lifting and other strenuous tasks, whereas the active exoskeleton provides assistance by an adjustable assist-as-needed system, for various lifting and repetitive tasks, to the wearer’s back and hip joints. (Cyber Human Systems, n.d.)
- APEX – Apex is a product of HeroWare Technologies and is one of a kind fabric-based exoskeleton exosuit designed to assist back muscles while lifting, for both men and women. The assist feature can also be turned off or on as per the requirements of the wearer and also depending upon the situation. Apex is one of the few exoskeletons which can blend into the wearer’s background and feels just like one’s body part, it weighs around 3.4lbs and can assist a person to offload at least 50lbs. Apex can also be combined with certain attachable components from the HeroWear Fit Kit 56 series enabling the user to command and control even more physical tasks with ease.
